Make Your Own Ring Sizer

What You’ll Need:

  • A printer and some paper
  • String, yarn, dental floss, or a thin strip of paper
  • A pen or marker
  • A ruler (with millimeters)

How to Measure:

  1. Cut a piece of string, yarn, floss, or a thin strip of paper that’s at least 3 inches long.
  2. Wrap one end around the base of the finger you want to size.
  3. Use a pen or marker to mark the spot where the string overlaps.
  4. Lay the string flat and measure the distance from the end to your mark using a ruler (in millimeters).
  5. Find your ring size by matching the measurement to the Ring Size Conversion Chart.

What You’ll Need:

How to Measure:

  1. Print the Ring Sizer & Conversion Chart. Make sure your print settings are set to 100% scale (no resizing) and use standard 8.5 x 11-inch paper.
  2. Cut out the ring sizer and the small slit as shown in the instructions.
  3. Wrap the paper ring sizer snugly around the base of the finger you want to size, with the numbers facing out. Insert the pointed end through the slit.
  4. Look at the number that lines up with the slit—that’s your ring size! If the number falls between two sizes, don’t worry—quarter sizes are also an option.

Measure the Hand You’ll Wear the Ring On:

Many people have a slightly larger dominant hand, so always measure the hand where you plan to wear the ring.

Band Width Affects Fit:

1.Wider bands feel tighter. For rings with a thick band (over 4mm), go at least half a size larger.

2.For very thin bands (under 1.3mm), consider choosing a slightly smaller size.

3.Ring sizes are measured in millimeters (mm), not inches.

Temperature Matters:

Fingers shrink when cold and swell when warm. Make sure your body temperature is normal before measuring.

Measure at the Right Time:

Finger size can change throughout the day due to hydration and food intake. The best time to measure is midday or evening when your fingers are at their most stable size.

Consider Knuckle Size:

If you have large knuckles, measure both the knuckle and the base of your finger. Choose a size between these two measurements so the ring can slide over your knuckle but still fit comfortably—not too tight, not too loose.
